Perimenopause changes the terrain. Your training should respond.
PCP or gym? Often, the answer is both, for different reasons.
Your medical provider can evaluate symptoms, investigate concerns, and discuss treatment options. My role is to help you make informed decisions about training, nutrition, and recovery, then put those decisions into practice.
Those roles can complement each other. Coaching does not diagnose or treat medical conditions, and it does not replace medical care.
When your familiar approach no longer fits
You may already exercise, pay attention to what you eat, and know a great deal about health. Yet the routine that once worked may no longer fit how you feel or what your life currently demands.
The question is not automatically, “How do I do more?”
It is, “What has changed, and what deserves attention first?”
At Custom Fit Coaching, I consider your training history, movement, symptoms, sleep, nutrition, stress, and responsibilities together. Perimenopause is relevant context. It is not an explanation for everything, and it does not tell me what your individual program should look like.
I don’t view perimenopausal women as hormonally compromised. They are physiologically distinct. One framing creates a culture of fragility. The other calls for strategic adaptation.
What we work on
Build strength you can use
The goal is a stronger body that can support your daily life, with capacity left over.
We train the whole body, selecting exercises and demands that reflect your starting point and goals. I observe how you move, help you develop proficiency, and progress the work as you become ready.
The objective is meaningful progress, not exhaustion as proof of a worthwhile session.
Eat to support your goals
We examine whether your eating patterns support the work you are asking your body to do.
That includes protein, overall intake, meal consistency, and food choices that fit your preferences and schedule. If changing body composition is a priority, we address it while keeping strength, recovery, and the sustainability of your approach in view.
You need a workable strategy, not another collection of food rules.
Match training demands to recovery
Your workout does not happen separately from the rest of your life.
A demanding workweek, disrupted sleep, or a change in symptoms provides information I need to consider. Sometimes we reduce the planned demand. Sometimes we maintain it. At other times, you may be ready for more.
The decision comes from your response and circumstances, not a blanket assumption that women in perimenopause should always train harder or always do less.
Give sleep appropriate attention
We look at your sleep patterns and the practical changes within your control, including routines and how training fits into your day.
We also recognize the limits of coaching. Persistent sleep disruption or other concerning symptoms deserve attention from an appropriate medical professional.
How what you need is determined
Natalia Worthington, founder of Custom Fit Coaching and an Interpretive Human Performance Coach, begins with an assessment. She gathers relevant information, observes how you move, and asks questions about what you are experiencing and what you want to accomplish.
Then she explains her reasoning and recommends the most appropriate next step. Natalia identifies the most useful starting point.
Throughout the coaching relationship, your response informs the next decision. Your plan is adjusted as your capacity and circumstances change.
Over time, you also learn to recognize your own patterns and make better-informed choices. The intended outcome is greater capability and judgment, not dependence on constant direction.
